Calvin Teng, known as "The Bearded Artist", is a versatile artist whose work spans fine arts, music, theater, and other creative disciplines. Over the decades, his diverse cross-disciplinary artistic works and life experiences have been widely featured in media and magazines. In recent years, he has chosen a quieter life in the mountains of Taichung to focus entirely on abstract painting. His unique creative style, which blends Eastern and Western artistic influences, has earned profound recognition and acclaim from international and local collectors alike.
Calvin Teng's friendship with the ingenious sound artist Ji Yi-Guo began with a handcrafted metal biscuit tin. Teng was deeply captivated by how Ji could create the warmest and most beautiful sound using the most affordable audio components—completely redefining the conventional notion that high-fidelity sound requires an exorbitant budget. This mutual respect and deep friendship gave birth to the "First Sound of Spring" joint exhibition. During the exhibition, Calvin Teng will perform live using microphones and audio systems masterfully handcrafted by Ji Yi-Guo.
