To assist remote community school children in chasing their basketball dreams, the China Youth Corps Taichung South District Committee gathered small-amount online donations and enterprise sponsorships to deliver 32 pairs of Nike basketball shoes, 32 basketballs, and over 10 boxes of shelf-stable milk to Dili Elementary School in Xinyi Township, Nantou County today, bringing immense joy to the young players.
The basketball team at Dili Elementary School in Xinyi Township boasts an outstanding track record. Although these Indigenous children who passionately love basketball lack resources, they still display high morale during daily practices and tournaments. For these remote community children, owning a high-quality pair of athletic shoes remained a deeply cherished wish. Upon learning about this, the China Youth Corps Taichung South District Committee integrated private enterprise resources to deliver 32 pairs of sneakers, 32 basketballs, shelf-stable milk, and athletic socks today.
Kuo Kuo-Hui, Chairman of the China Youth Corps Taichung Committee, stated in a media interview that basketball shoes are high-wear consumables during practice. Through small-amount online fundraising, they consolidated goodwill and resources from various sectors to raise 32 pairs of Nike basketball shoes, 32 Spalding basketballs, over 10 boxes of shelf-stable milk, 96 pairs of athletic socks, and UVC mold-eliminating and deodorizing devices. These supplies filled more than 10 large boxes and were transported via truck from Taichung to Dili Village today to be donated to the team.
Kuo Kuo-Hui added that many remote community children do not have properly fitting shoes and suffer from a lack of funding. Therefore, they specially surveyed the shoe size of every single basketball team member in advance. This ensured that the donated professional sneakers not only provided premium quality but also precisely met the children's specific needs. He expressed gratitude for the robust enterprise sponsorships, giving special thanks to enterprise owners from EASY SMART TRANSCEND CO., LTD. (EASY), Ching-Lien Security, February Dining Business Group, Yung-Sheng Gardening & Landscaping, Jing-Hong Landscape Co., Ltd., and Bai-Gong Construction for their passionate participation, which made today's donation event possible.
Tseng Hsiao-Ju, Principal of Dili Elementary School, expressed in her speech that the family financial conditions of remote community school children are generally not abundant. However, a single basketball can fulfill a basketball dream, and a pair of basketball shoes can guide them to carve out a path in life. The school continuously supports and encourages the children to face challenges bravely, allowing a spirit of never giving up to become an integral part of their character.
Two fifth-graders, surnamed Sung and Chuan, joyfully shared that their younger peers all love playing basketball, and what they previously lacked most was a good pair of shoes. Now, with these new basketball shoes that offer significantly better support and fit, they can run faster, jump higher, and minimize the risk of injury during games. They expressed their deep gratitude to the uncles and aunts from the Taichung China Youth Corps.
Kuo Pei-Ying, Chairperson of the South District Committee, noted that many well-intentioned individuals wish to aid remote community children but lack the channels to do so. This time, by spreading the word through the internet and friends, they leveraged small-amount fundraising to pool the power of the general public. This allowed kind-hearted friends, who could not personally travel to the remote area, to rely on the team's collective strength to help these school children fulfill a basketball dream.
