Dili Elementary School in Xinyi Township, Nantou County, has developed a sports talent initiative, establishing a basketball team to teach school children how to play basketball. To ensure that the children have no shortage of training resources, the China Youth Corps Taichung South District Committee paid a special visit this morning to donate a batch of supplies, including basketballs, athletic shoes, basketball socks, and shelf-stable milk, allowing the children to fulfill their basketball dreams.

Tseng Hsiao-Ju, Principal of Dili Elementary School, expressed that the family financial conditions of the local Bunun children are generally not abundant. However, after joining the basketball team, they all hope to fulfill their basketball dreams and embark on a new path in life. Through practice sessions, the school also encourages the children to bravely face challenges and never give up.

She noted that the students display immense focus on the court and are deeply dedicated to their training. She believes that with the support from various sectors of society, their lives will undoubtedly be transformed in the future.

During the donation event, the children radiated sunny, brilliant smiles. Fifth-graders Sung Chia-Yu and Chuan Szu-Chuan shared that their younger peers all love playing basketball, and what they lacked most was a good pair of shoes. Now, with these excellent basketball shoes, they will run lighter, jump higher, and be less prone to injuries during tournaments. They expressed their profound gratitude to the uncles and aunts from the Taichung China Youth Corps, adding that once they lace up their new shoes, they will definitely give it their all and showcase their skills.

Kuo Pei-Ying, Chairperson of the China Youth Corps South District Committee, stated that this initiative consolidated the power of the general public through small-amount fundraising. By pooling and donating these supplies to Dili Elementary School, it has also allowed many people to participate in caring for remote communities and help children transform their lives.

Kuo Kuo-Hui, Chairman of the Taichung China Youth Corps, noted that many children in remote areas do not have properly fitting shoes. Therefore, they meticulously surveyed the shoe size of every single basketball team member, ensuring that the donated brand-name basketball shoes precisely met the children's specific needs.

He added that the drive for these supplies received sponsorship from numerous enterprises. He expressed deep gratitude to enterprise owners from EASY SMART TRANSCEND CO., LTD. (EASY), Ching-Lien Security, February Dining Business Group, Yung-Sheng Gardening & Landscaping, Jing-Hong Landscape Co., Ltd., and Bai-Gong Construction for eagerly participating in gathering the supplies during the pandemic, making today's donation event possible.
