The China Youth Corps Taichung South District Committee visited Dili Village today (24th) to donate basketball-related supplies, such as basketballs and athletic shoes, to Dili Elementary School in Nantou. Through this public welfare service, they hope to help remote community school children transform their lives, fulfill their basketball dreams, and pave their own paths in life.

Starting in March of this year, under the leadership of South District Chairperson Kuo Pei-Ying, volunteers from the China Youth Corps Taichung Committee learned that Dili Elementary School has focused on basketball for years, actively promoting a sports talent initiative for Indigenous children. Knowing that basketball shoes are the most heavily worn-out items during practice, they launched small-amount online fundraising to consolidate goodwill and resources. They successfully raised 32 pairs of Nike basketball shoes, 32 Spalding basketballs, over 10 boxes of shelf-stable milk, 96 pairs of Iron Man basketball socks, and 5 UVC mold-eliminating and deodorizing devices. In total, over 10 large boxes of supplies were transported via Kia Kaon trucks from Taichung City to Dili Village and donated to the Dili Elementary School basketball team.

Kuo Kuo-Hui, Chairman of the China Youth Corps, stated that the Dili Elementary School basketball team has been established for eight years, and its players are frequently scouted by renowned school basketball teams across Taiwan as they advance to higher education. With today's donation of basketballs and basketball shoes to Dili Elementary School, these remote community children will no longer have to practice barefoot; wearing familiar athletic shoes will allow them to better showcase their skills during games.

Tseng Hsiao-Ju, Principal of Dili Elementary School, expressed that the family financial conditions of the children at Dili Elementary School are generally not abundant. However, a single basketball can fulfill a remote community child's basketball dream, and a pair of basketball shoes can guide these Indigenous children to walk their own paths in life.

Many children flashed brilliant, sunny smiles upon seeing the high-quality sneakers and brand-new basketballs. Two fifth-graders mentioned that everyone loves playing basketball, and what they lacked most was a good pair of shoes. Now, with these great basketball shoes, they will have better ankle support, run lighter, jump higher, and be less prone to injuries during tournaments. They expressed their deep gratitude to the uncles and aunts from the Taichung China Youth Corps.

Kuo Kuo-Hui, Chairman of the China Youth Corps, added that prior to this donation, they meticulously surveyed the shoe size of every single basketball team member to ensure that the donated brand-name basketball shoes precisely met the children's specific needs.

Kuo Kuo-Hui emphasized that they are immensely grateful to the passionate enterprise owners from EASY SMART TRANSCEND CO., LTD. (EASY), Ching-Lien Security, February Dining Business Group, Yung-Sheng Gardening & Landscaping, Jing-Hong Landscape Co., Ltd., and Bai-Gong Construction for eagerly participating in this supply drive.
